Ripley’s Raiders

Monument Dedication Ceremony

March 2, 2012

On March 2nd, 2007 in a hotel in Crystal City, Virginia. Ripley’s Raiders mustered together as a group for the first time since their tour in Vietnam forty years prior. On March 3rd, in front of panel number 16E of the Vietnam Memorial bearing the names of Lima Company members who gave their all during the battle, retired Colonel John W Ripley and his raiders paid tribute to the fallen warriors of Lima Company.

Colonel Ripley’s untimely death on October 28, 2008 brought twenty-eight members of Ripley’s Raiders to his funeral at the Naval Academy at Annapolis, Maryland. After the funeral ceremony the Raiders decided create a project which would pay tribute to Colonel Ripley.
