Ripley’s Raiders

Monument Dedication Ceremony

March 2, 2012

 

The memorial, a ten-foot high black Granite monument with bronze plaques depicting Captain John Ripley at the time he was company commander of Lima Company in Vietnam and a replica of a wooden plaque of the Ripley’ Raiders logo carved by Battalion Surgeon John P Miller and presented to Captain Ripley in 1967.  Also included on the five-sided monolith were the engraved names of each and every of the 437 Marines who served in Lima Company while Ripley was commander.

 

Most of the immediate Ripley family was in attendance and eldest son Paul Ripley gave a short expression of the family’s gratitude.
