                The only helicopter available that day was this UH-34 that was able to deliver a load of litters. The corpsmen are unloading them as quickly as possible to get him airborne as quickly as possible.

                A long and intense fire fight followed. Reinforcements were called in from Camp Carroll and Dong Ha. After an hour several truckloads of Marines arrived from the rear area. Most of these guys were what we called "rear area poges". These were cooks, office clerks, supply clerks, mechanics, etc. Some had combat experience, some did not. In the Marines regardless of what your job is you are first and foremost a rifleman.  After a brief stop to pick additional ammunition and supplies they proceeded to out to the ambush site.
