Needless to say our moral picked up with our 2 cans per man ration. I don't remember getting beer again until we were relocated to Ca Lu, where we usually got 2 cans per man per day on a regular basis. Later it was rumored that Capt. Ripley had the beer flown in to help lift morale. I tend to believe the rumor, it was the type of unorthodox thing Capt. Ripley would do for his troops, and after all, we were his "Raiders".

We had just received the first beer that I had since joining the unit.

Marines are radiomen Cpl. Terry L. MOORE (Cleveland, Ohio), L/Cpl. E. Richard LYNN (from Asbury Park, New Jersey) and me.

We were joking around and, in this case, laughing at the antics of Cpl. Moore. Moore and Lynn had just come back from having hot showers, hence the towel still around Moore's neck. The can of beer Lynn is holding is a Falstaff.

Weapons Platoon Sgt. Joseph GALLEGOS the same evening. The beer is a Pabst Blue Ribbon and he has just opened it with his "John Wayne" and has bent the partially opened top back to make a handle on his "mug".   He also had scored a cigar. Needless to say the Sarge was a happy dude that evening.
