Heading
west along the Quang Tri River we next came to
the village of Lon Caht.
This
village was inhabited by Montagnards and was completely different than the
village occupied by the Vietnamese. The houses were built up off the ground
on stilts. The roofs were thatched, but had a steeper pitch, which not only
shed the water better, but provided space for sleeping and storing supplies
above the main living quarters.
