071100H Security at South Bridge in the vicinity of (XD 982532)
reported the arrival of thirteen Montagnards (seven males, two female, two
girls a baby girl and baby boy). Subjects detained and placed under guard.
Interrogation revealed they came from village in the vicinity of (XD 992483)
or (YD 002475) and were walking up the road to 3/3CP at approximately the
same time as the convoy was ambushed. Detainees will be forwarded to 15th
CIT at CAM LO.
071110H Company India platoon reported linking with convoy at
the ambush site. An unknown number of convoy personnel pinned down by enemy
fire. One squad of 81mm mortars sent to South Bridge.
071115H Company India platoon reported receiving incoming small
arms fire from grid square (XD 9750), but unable to observe enemy.
071120H Company Lima reported departing from CAMP
CARROLL by truck convoy.
071145H Company India platoon operating in the vicinity of (XD
980513) reported locating sixty fighting holes estimated to be one day old.
Marines also located twelve 82mm mortar rounds, three cases of increments,
several fuses, NVA C-rations cases, and anti-American propaganda. All items
scattered about the area as if hastily left. All gear will be forwarded to
G-2.

enemy on the ridgeline in the vicinity of (XD
