On the 9th of October a Motor T driver gave Rozzi and I a ride to the airstrip, where we caught a C-130. After a short flight we landed at DaNang. We then proceeded to hitch hike to China Beach R&R Center, where we reported to the Officer in charge. He issued ID cards which authorized us to be there. We were then issued a blanket and directed to the barracks. China Beach was like paradise. Since guests were encouraged to relax, the following activities were scheduled:

0800 Cafeteria, Gym, and USO opens 0830 Sick Bay and Armory opens 0900 Beach, beach house, locker Room, and Library opens 0930 China Beach PX and Facilities opens 1000 Sick Bay Closes (Emergencies anytime),Recreation Building opens 1200 Beer Hall opens 1630 Cafeteria opens 1700 Beer Hall, Cafeteria, Library, PX, and USO Close 1800 Beer Hall opens for R&R personnel only Sunset Beach Area closed Movie call in amphitheater + 15 min 1830 Day passes expire. All R&R personnel must be aboard. 2200 Recreation Building closes, quiet on compound
