The day finally
came for me to fly to Da Nang. I flew down there on the first flight out in
the morning. Once at Da Nang, I spent the day at the transient center next
to the airport. After spending all day there, I was assigned a flight out,
but it would not be until the next day. I boarded a bus which took me to
the transient barracks near Freedom Hill. This facility was like a motel.
It was 2 stories and had rooms which would house 3 or 4 guys. There was
nothing to do so we all just hung around on the balcony outside our rooms.
After dark I remember watching the movie "Barefoot in the Park".
I slept very little in anticipation of leaving in the morning.
